Understanding The Insurance Problem In Your Agency
Working in an insurance agency means fielding and solving problems on a regular basis.
“The bottom line is, the point of any problem is to find a solution. And so in order to find a solution, sometimes you need to take both personalities, that kinda black and white and the one that thinks in color, work together to clearly outline and define the problem.”
Problems are inevitable, but the way we decide to tackle our insurance problems can be a game changer. When we’re facing an insurance problem, there are a few steps we should take, to make sure we’re able to efficiently solve the issue. A great place to start is by making sure we thoroughly understand the insurance problem. Too often we try to solve problems quickly, and with emotions at the helm, which can lead to trouble arriving at a conclusion. Here’s how you can understand the insurance problems at your agency, to become a Ridiculously Amazing Agent in 2021.
1.Know that there are different types of problem solvers
When we’re trying to solve our insurance problems in our agency, there’s an element to take into consideration: that there are different types of problem solvers. This becomes relevant if it’s a group issue, meaning there needs to be collective involvement to solve it. Some people at your insurance agency might be more of black-and-white thinkers, while others may problem solve a little more in color. Taking these different personalities into consideration can help avoid conflict.
2.The enemy is assuming
When we’re trying to solve problems quickly, we’re likely to make some assumptions about the situation, and this can be a dangerous game, and hinder our success. We should be sure to slow down to speed up, ask relevant questions, and carefully listen to the answers, to make sure we fully understand the problem.
3.Self-reflect and look at your own behavior
When we’re trying to problem-solve, it’s important to also look in the mirror, and see how we’re behaving. We can ask ourselves, “Do I understand the problem, or are my emotions cluttering it up?” Turning the lens on ourselves may seem like an extra step, but the effort is worth it, to make sure that we’re rising to the occasion and solving the problem in the best way possible.
