Insurance Inbox Strategies
If you’ve been with us for a while, you probably know how passionate we are about email management, especially as a time management tool. We find that many people don’t know how to use email effectively or efficiently, and it’s time to fix that.
“So many people have never learned how to use email effectively or efficiently, and it’s time to fix that.”
If you want to master your time management and maximize productivity, you should definitely implement some of these insurance inbox strategies, to make sure your email isn’t bogging you down.
- Treat email as a landing pad
Your emails should be a landing pad for information, not a destination. This means that you should not have a ton of unread emails, and they should at the very least be organized in a folder. Ideally, you want to migrate emails from your inbox into your management system. In general, we get our work and information from many sources, such as meetings, faxes, and emails, and we need to take all of that information, and put it into one central location, such as our management system.
- Treat 10 as the magic number
Email can sometimes seem like a never ending deluge, and it can be tough to work through a cluttered inbox. In order to keep email manageable, one of our favorite insurance inbox strategies is to treat 10 as a magic number. You never want to have more than 10 emails in your inbox by the time you leave for the day, and by Friday, that number should be down to 0. That’s because if you’re to win the lottery over the weekend, no one should be scrambling to sort through your inbox.
- Learn your system hacks
When we enter all of our data into one central management system, we’re able to use “hacks” to master our time management. Our priorities change all day long, and if you’re using your system correctly, you can reprioritize tasks as they come and go. With proper management system use, you can set priority levels and due dates, to stay more organized.
Taking advantage of insurance inbox strategies involves slowing down to speed up, or doing things a little bit slower to get the job done right. The bottom line is that email should not be a bottleneck, and when you use proper insurance inbox strategies, it can become a tool that helps improve your insurance time management.
