What is Success in Your Insurance Agency?
We’re right in the middle of the launch for our newest online course, which is “Plan & Execute: How to Build Your Agency Success Roadmap,” and we’re diving into some of the topics we cover in it. This week we’re doing a deep dive into the topic of making decisions, and today’s topic is about success. What is success in your insurance agency?
“What we find is because there is no definition of success, it always feels like more, more, more, more, more. And in all reality, you’re making progress.”
We think you have to be intentional about defining success as an agency owner, and here’s why:
You’re going to encounter a lot of problems
As an agency owner or leader, a lot of what comes across your desk is going to be problems, complaints, and issues. So while there might be plenty of good news and you’re working hard, it can be frustrating when it feels like things aren’t working.
When there’s no definition of success, it always feels like there’s more to do
When you haven’t defined success, it always feels like there is more to do, and that you’re not making progress, even when you have. That end goal might keep moving, which is a sign of success, but you need to know when you’re hitting your marks.
You’ll avoid burnout all around
If you’re not intentional about defining success, you’re destined to burn yourself out, which can have an impact on your personal and professional life. Your team is going to feel it too, and they’ll wonder why they’re continuously hustling to a never ending goal. Defining success also means that you’re taking moments to celebrate wins, which everyone can appreciate.
It’s important to answer that question “What is success in your insurance agency?” Even when you define success, you’re probably going to feel like there is a ton to do. But at least you’ll be hitting milestones. That’s going to make sure you all have moments to celebrate, and that everyone feels successful.
