How To Ask For Insurance Referrals: Remembering
We’re staying on the referral bandwagon all this week, as we discuss how to ask for insurance agency referrals. This next tip can be one of the most common reasons we’re not asking for referrals, but it can also be a bit of an embarrassing reason. It’s because we simply don’t remember.
“The bottom line with remembering is that you have to make it a strategy. Don’t hope to remember, that’s not a great strategy.”
Here’s the thing; you need to remember to ask for insurance agency referrals. But most of us have been in that position where we’ve forgotten. We go through the quote, the transaction, and then at the end it’s like “Oh gosh, I’ve forgotten.”
Here are some ways you can remember to ask for insurance agency referrals:
1. Set goals to ask two people
Today, set a goal to ask two people for referrals. By setting a goal, it’ll be on your mind.
2. Attach it to other goals
A great way to remember is to attach asking for referrals to other goals. For example, before you get a cup of coffee, ask someone. Before you go to lunch, ask someone. You’re already in the habit of these other things, and you definitely won’t forget to go to lunch or coffee.
3. Put something visible on your desk
A visual aide can help you remember to ask for insurance agency referrals. Some people put a Post-It note on the top of their monitor, and move it to the bottom when they’re done. Just keep in mind this might also be something that you overlook, so you need to pick an object that’s memorable.
At the end of the day, you should be motivated to remember to ask for insurance agency referrals, because you’ll grow a book of really great clients. Referrals tend to be the longest clients, tend to bring the most value to you, and aren’t as price sensitive.
