Guide to In-Person Insurance Interviews

We firmly believe that every agency out there needs to utilize the in-person insurance interview as the second part of your hiring process

When you take full advantage of the in-person interview, it’s great for you, your candidates, and your agency. And like Heath said, please, please do not settle.”

What does that mean?

Well, the phone interview acts as a verification that this candidate is willing to meet you halfway and is worth the time of a second interview. So, how do you have the most effective interview process for you and your team?

The first piece of advice is to include your team. Who is going to be working closely with this potential hire? Let them be a part of this meeting. Let them have a seat at the table.

Next, have your questions prepared. This is a great way to drive team buy-in. You can have a meeting with all of your team and gather questions relevant to you, your agency, and your team. (Seriously, you should do this.)

Another thing you should do is prep your office. If you expect these candidates to put their best foot forward, they deserve the same from you. And you should make your office seem like a place they want to work in.

The last thing you need to do is evaluate the interview. How did you feel about the person and their answers? How did your team feel about it?

When you take full advantage of the in-person interview, it’s great for you, your candidates, and your agency. And like Heath said, please, please do not settle.
