4 Reasons Your Agency Management System Reports Are Wrong – Human Error
To Error is Human and it’s true. No matter how good of a job you do, you will make mistakes and that is okay. What is not okay is not having any systems in place that help you and your team mitigate human error as much as possible. That’s one reason your insurance agency reports are, well, wrong.
“We have a longstanding love affair with them because they make everyone’s life easier.”
Human error is very real and very present in most of our life. It’s pretty unavoidable, but there is a lot you can do in your agency to reduce its impact.
You can start by taking a look at your workflow. When information comes in, are you writing scribbles on a napkin with the intention of translating it to your management system, or is it getting lost in the sauce?
Ever heard of a virtual notepad? This is one reason why we talk about it.
Another thing is checklists. We have a longstanding love affair with them because they make everyone’s life easier. And, more than anything, they limit the number of steps that a person can accidentally miss on their way.
Collect name? Check. Collect address? Check. Collect phone numbers and verify? Check and check.
This is a big reason we push policy checking. Are you sure that your processes are making this whole process as seamless as possible? Do people know exactly where to go when they collect certain pieces of information?
Insurance agency reporting is very messy and human error is going to happen. It just is. That’s why you need to do what you can to make sure one doesn’t completely demolish the other.
