Insurance False Beliefs
This week we’re starting our next series, and diving into four major insurance false beliefs that we see out there in agencies. Today’s false belief is the idea of doing things fast versus doing things right. One of the most common insurance false beliefs is that clients want you to do something fast, instead of doing it right the first time. But this is something that most often isn’t the case, and here’s why:
“We have to get out of this idea of transaction, transaction, transaction, bury our head and steam through everything. Because it’s not gonna win in the long run.”
1. We think we don’t have enough time
Whenever we launch a new program at an agency, we often hear the response: “Oh my gosh, that’s going to take forever!” That’s because when employees see a checklist or a form, they think it’s going to be a time consuming process, because we’re so used to speeding through everything and only making it a transaction. We’re not stopping and thinking about the outcome, and instead, we rush through our tasks.
2. Customers clearly want us to get it right
A lot of the time, we think that clients don’t want to be on the phone with us, but in reality what they do want is for us to get it right. When we don’t get things right the first time, that’s when issues come up. We think that asking the right questions takes hours, but in fact, it takes moments, and then it’s done right the first time. Customers want us to get it right, even if it means taking a few more moments on the phone.
We’ve found that many agencies have traded speed for accuracy, and this leaves more room for error. But we can’t bury our heads in the sand and just plow through transaction after transaction, because that’s when we’re going to see mistakes. By slowing down to speed up, we can make sure we’re getting things right for our customers the first time.
