4 Things to do Now Before the End of the Year: Job Descriptions
You might notice that today’s Three Minute Video is brought to you by a special guest: Heath Shearon. Heath is a new member of our APP team, and an industry veteran. Heath joined us to talk about things to do before the end of the year, and today’s topic is job descriptions in your insurance agency.
“Let’s get that all worked out so you can go into 2022 with those job descriptions defined, clearly defined roles, and I think it’s going to help your agency go so much further and have so much more success in 2022.”
As we wrap up the year, you should definitely take some time to look at the job descriptions in your insurance agency for a few big reasons. Firstly, when you overlook having accurate job descriptions in your insurance agency, it means that you let everyone else fill in the blanks and make up their own definition of what their job should be. Here’s why else you should tighten up the job descriptions in your insurance agency before the end of the year:
- Clarity: Your team desperately needs clarity on their roles and responsibilities. When you have solid job descriptions, everyone has clarity on what exactly their role is, and what exactly they’re responsible for.
- Dialogue: In order to get those job descriptions down, you can sit down and open up a dialogue with your people. You can ask them what they love, what they hate, and what could be improved upon in their role. Based on that, you can rewrite the job description or update it, based on their feedback.
- Morale: Accurate job descriptions are great for accountability, team structure, workflow, and morale. When everybody has clear expectations and there’s transparency across the board, everyone can be on the same page.
At the end of the day, crystal clear job descriptions can be a guiding light that helps everyone know what they should be responsible for. In order to make the most of your 2022, you should work to sort out those job descriptions so your agency can truly flourish.
