75 Hard and Insurance – Winning
We’re up to our fourth tip of what we learned from the mental toughness challenge 75 Hard, and how these lessons relate to insurance. For a more in-depth description of the challenge itself, check out our first post of the week here. This next concept is probably one of the biggest ones for us from 75 Hard, which is the concept of winning.
“Because so many agency team members don’t feel like they’re winning all day long, and over time, that really grades on your confidence, and it grades on your ability to think clearly, and also leads to burnout. So stop for a minute, think about what winning is, write it down and make it simple, make it, if we do these things everyday, we’re winning.”
We love to win. Jason Cass often comments on his podcasts, “Do you love to win or hate to lose?” And we love winning. But much of the time, whether you’re running a business or even just working in an insurance agency, there’s no definition for winning. And if you’re someone like us, who likes to win, you are always wondering what win is next. Winning feels good for five minutes, and then it’s like, let’s get back after it.
75 Hard and Insurance – Winning
During 75 Hard, the definition of winning is very clear. You have to do these tasks every single day, and if you don’t, you go back to square one, so there’s a consequence. And you have to keep figuring it out. They call 75 Hard a mental toughness challenge because that’s what it is. But everyday you go onto the app and check off that you’ve done another day, that’s the definition of winning.
In your agency and in your personal life, have you defined what a winning day is? So many times we throw so much clutter and excess into one day, that it’s not a winning day. In fact, it’s a losing day because we were never even going to be able to accomplish it. We didn’t have a plan.
We think you need to sit down and define winning, and then clearly execute your steps to get there. But just saying “this is what winning is” and not having a plan won’t get you very far. If you feel like you’re winning everyday, do you know what that does for your confidence, your swagger, your ability to think clearly, and overall well being? By just checking those boxes every day during 75 Hard, it elevated our confidence and security, and led us to having a great day.
If you’re a frontline team member, defining winning is a great way to get your agency super far ahead. Because so many agency team members don’t feel like they’re winning all day long, and over time, this can degrade your confidence and lead to burnout. So stop for a minute, think about what winning is, write it down, and make it simple. And celebrate that feeling when you win the day.
