What does your 2018 insurance agency strategy look like?
While we all maybe thinking about mashed potatoes, stuffing and pie (and whipped cream with pie) we also should be thinking about getting ready for 2018. Focusing on getting prepped up for a new year is important and making an excuse that you need to plan for 2018 rather than spend time with dysfunctional family members may be just the escape you need.
I love this time of year just for the time to reflect. I think it’s no secret for many people this year has been a difficult and challenging. Lots of stops and starts but the economy is strong and it’s time for our business to get buff too!
The only way to think ahead is to reflect back for a bit. Now you may want to forget this year but by forgetting it we lose valuable lessons, right? So embrace what did or did not work and let’s get to work. Here is how we start the process of reflection:
- What was your best day in your business this year? Why?
- What was your worst day in your business this year? Why?
- Where could you put the least amount of energy to get a better result?
- What are you not going to tolerate in this next year?
- What are you going to commit to celebrating this next year?
- What do you need to move on from to have your best year ever?
- What gave you the most energy this past year?
- What sucked up all your energy this past year?
These are powerful and deep questions that you can’t ask over night. You may need to think through them. Talk with trusted advisors about them. Resist the urge to think about only the last quarter. Do you remember last February? You have to go to a place where you can get centered in what happened and what you want to happen next year!
