Time Management Tip #3: Lottery At Lunch
Time management in insurance agencies is so important, we’re doing a mega-series on it called 16 Tips on Time Management. Today’s time management tip is something you might have heard of: have you been hit by a Mack Truck?
“The customer experience should remain intact, whether you’re there or not.”
While we always giggle a little bit at this one, the answer is that you probably wouldn’t care too much if you were hit by a Mack truck, and this isn’t the way you should be working. Instead, you should be working like you’re going to win the lottery at lunch, where you would walk away from your desk, and anyone could pick up your work without the ball being dropped.
For many of us, we’re operating off of our brain power, notepad, and email, and not all the information is ending up in the place it should be, which is in your agency’s management system. So the goal, and something we stress in our new time management course, is the idea of acting like you’re going to win the lottery at lunch. If you can win the lottery and walk away with a perfect hand-off, that’s the ultimate goal.
Why is this such an important goal? We never know when we’re going to be pulled away, have a family emergency, or just need time off the phones. The idea is that the ball should never be dropped, and the customer experience should always remain intact, whether or not you’re there.
