Why Can’t Account Managers & Producers Get Along: 2 Different Brains
All this week we’re diving into something that everyone in our industry has known for a long time: that producers and account managers can’t get along with one another. The next reason that we’ve found is that there are really 2 different brains that run your insurance agency.
“It’s pretty obvious that it’s two different skill sets, two different mindset, two different brains that we’re talking about here, and I think it’s super important to sit down and realize right from Jump Street that one can’t exist without the other and one is not more important than the other.”
Producers and account managers tend to have two distinct personalities, and these roles require two very different skill sets. It’s super important to understand that these differences exist, but that one can’t exist without the other.
In order to understand that there are 2 different brains that run your insurance agency, we need to take the time to value one another’s different strengths. A little respect goes a long way, and so often, it’s missing in the relationships of account managers and producers.
A great way to do this is by respecting the space and the time of the other person, and by opening up lines of communication. You can ask what their schedule looks like today, and what their time looks like today, in order to value their strengths.
Producers and account managers should take the time to communicate struggles, victories, and everything in between. This can be with a phone call or text message, or even through the agency CRM. At the end of the day, it comes down to transparency and being able to communicate and respect the other side.
